Voters in Uralla Shire Council’s Ward A will head to the polls today Saturday, 18 April, with polling places open from 8am.
The by-election will determine the replacement for Lone Petrov who passed away. Ward A includes the Uralla township and areas to the south, with voting compulsory for all enrolled electors in the area.
There are just two polling places for the Ward’s 2,278 electors, over 600 of whom have already voted. voting will take place at the Uralla Memorial Hall and the Rocky River Public School from 8am. Voting will end at 6pm, with the first vote count expected to be reported online at around 6.30pm.
There are a small number of votes to be counted, but with a large number of candidates the result may not be known for some days.
Postal vote applications have now closed. Completed postal ballots must be finalised by 6pm on election day and received by the NSW Electoral Commission no later than 6pm on Friday, 1 May to be included in the count.
A field of eight candidates has nominated for the by-election.
