Level 2 water restrictions now in place for Bundarra residents

Bundarra residents have moved to Level 2 water restrictions, effective immediately, as local water storage levels fall below 62 per cent.

The restrictions apply to all properties connected to the town water supply and bring Bundarra in line with Uralla, which has been under Level 2 measures since February.

Uralla Shire Mayor Robert Bell said the decision was aimed at protecting the community’s long-term water supply.

“With river levels continuing to decline, it’s important we act early and responsibly to manage our water resources,” Bell said. “Introducing Level 2 restrictions now will help slow demand and put us in a stronger position moving forward.”

Council is continuing to monitor water storage, weather conditions and demand.

Bell urged Bundarra residents to take an active role in conserving water.

“Everyone has a role to play, and I encourage residents to review and comply with the Level 2 requirements now in place,” he said.

Under the restrictions, Bundarra residents:

  • May water lawns and gardens only between 5am–7am or 5pm–7pm (not both) on alternate days, using a hand-held hose with a trigger nozzle.
  • At even-numbered properties, may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • At odd-numbered properties, may water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • Must not water on Mondays.
  • May wash vehicles using a bucket, or by hose for up to 30 minutes.
  • Must not clean hard surfaces, unless using high-pressure equipment.
  • Must also limit water use for activities such as topping up private swimming pools.
