Youth workers and professionals who support young people in the New England region are invited to register for The Nitty Gritty, a free one-day training course in reproductive and sexual health, hosted by Family Planning Australia.
The course will run on Tuesday, 16 December, at the Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club, and is fully funded by the Hunter New England Local Health District. There is no cost to attend.
Designed for people working in youth and community services, the workshop equips participants with the skills, knowledge and resources to confidently discuss sexual health with young people in a safe and inclusive way.
Topics covered include understanding and communicating about consent, preventing sexually transmissible infections (STIs), contraception options, and supporting the sexual health of priority populations.
“This is a hands-on, interactive experience in a safe and welcoming environment where
participants build confidence and practice effective ways to communicate with young
people about their reproductive and sexual health,” said Family Planning Australia Senior Education Officer Victoria Oettel.
“We invite anyone employed in the youth and community services sector, or who works
closely with young people, to take this opportunity and sign up. This includes social
workers, program coordinators, case managers, and Aboriginal community workers.”
Registrations are now open. To secure a place, register online or contact Family Planning Australia’s Education Team at education@fpnsw.org.au.
