SBM25: Simple love

October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region. Register your business now!

Today we have three businesses that keep it simple and deliver it with love – a tech company making it simple and easy for you, a crystal and jewellery maker where every piece is crafted with love of the craft, and one of the region’s best loved butchers.

D&J Assisted Technology

Onyx Castle

Where crystals meet craftsmanship – and magic comes to life.

Dorrigo, Bellingen Shire Council, NSW 2453

Welcome to Onyx Castle, your one-stop crystal shop where magic meets craftsmanship. Founded in 2019, this family-run business began as a small passion project and has blossomed into a haven for lovers of handcrafted crystal jewellery, onyx homewares, and mystical treasures. Nestled on the edge of the Dorrigo Plateau, Onyx Castle combines artistry, authenticity, and a deep connection to the local community.

Every piece at Onyx Castle is crafted or carefully selected with intention. From unique sterling silver jewellery and shimmering crystals to witchy tools and esoteric décor, each item carries a touch of wonder. Whether you’re searching for something to elevate your energy or a one-of-a-kind gift, they’ll happily create or source it just for you.

While primarily online, you’ll often find Onyx Castle bringing sparkle to local festivals such as Seasons of New England, Thunderbolt’s Festival, and The Black Gully Festival. More than just a store, Onyx Castle is a journey into the mystical – where creativity, quality, and passion shine through every crystal.

Lennon’s Butchery

Quality you can taste, from a family you can trust.

170 Otho St. Inverell, NSW

When Dan and Libby Lennon opened their Otho Street butchery in 2003, they set out to serve quality meats with friendly, personal service. More than twenty years later, Lennon’s Butchery remains a cornerstone of the Inverell community, known for its consistency, craftsmanship, and commitment to customers. Their wall of awards and loyal customer base speak to decades of hard work and genuine care.

Every cut tells a story of quality. Lennon’s sources meats from trusted local producers, crafting everything in-house – from their bacon, ham, and corned beef to their award-winning sausages and chicken specialties. The display cases are filled with fresh beef, lamb, pork, and poultry, alongside schnitzels, roasts, lasagne, stir-fry packs, and gluten-free options. Staff are always happy to share preparation tips because, as acting manager Wes Allcock says, “All the products we make, we enjoy eating ourselves.”

Family and community sit at the heart of Lennon’s. Many of the team, including Wes, began as apprentices and stayed on, fostering a family-style workplace where learning and support go hand in hand. Dan, Libby, and their crew proudly back local fundraisers, restaurants, and farmers, proving that good food and good people go together. With reliable service, fresh local produce, and a team that truly cares, Lennon’s Butchery continues to make Inverell proud.

Throughout October, we’ll run stories highlighting the great local businesses we have right here in our communities. This is a free service – the businesses highlighted have not paid for this story.
