A successful community BBQ, staged as a thank you to the incredible SES and emergency service personnel who responded to the recent wild weather event that brought the region’s heaviest snowfall in more than 20 years, raised hundreds of dollars for the local SES.
The event held by Jackson’s Provedores on Wednesday drew a strong turnout from the New South Wales State Emergency Service, Rural Fire and Rescue Team, NSW Ambulance Service, Armidale Regional Council crews, and more.
All emergency workers were invited to enjoy a free lunch as a token of appreciation for their tireless efforts. Community members were also welcomed, contributing gold coin donations for their meals in a collective show of support.
“We cannot thank the emergency services enough for the critical work they have done throughout this extreme weather event,” said Alex McClenaghan, Sales Manager at Jackson’s Provedores.
“We are proud to bring the community together, share a meal, and personally thank the people who help keep us safe.”
All proceeds from community donations were directed to the local SES unit. Jackson’s Provedores matched every dollar raised, bringing the total donation to over $500.
The team at Jackson’s Provedores said they are proud to be part of such a generous and community-minded region and extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped honour our local heroes.
