East Armidale Store serves up another win

East Armidale Store has once again claimed the title of Best Take Away Food in the New England Times’ Best in the New England promotion, marking the second consecutive year the business has taken out the popular award.

The win reflects the strong local following the store continues to build, with customers praising its consistent quality, generous portions, and friendly, community-minded service.

Located on Mann Street in East Armidale, the store has become a go-to for locals craving classic takeaway favourites. Known for its generously stacked burgers, crisp hot chips, fresh wraps, and traditional offerings like battered fish and homemade pies, the East Armidale Store has earned its reputation as one of the region’s top spots for a satisfying and affordable feed.

Owner Brad Kembrey said they were thrilled with their win.

“We really haven’t changed anything much, we’re still pretty much the same just sticking to what we know and doing it well.”

“I know a lot of local businesses have been complaining this year about how quiet it is but honestly we’re busier than ever!”

Much of the store’s success can be attributed to the team behind the counter, who pride themselves on creating a warm, personal experience for every customer. Regulars often mention the friendly service and thoughtful little touches, such as opening the fridge for a customer to stop their chocolate from melting, or taking time to have a chat while preparing an order. This commitment to genuine, personable service has made the store more than just a takeaway joint—it’s a part of the community.

Customer Karley summarised the store well in her voting comment saying, “Staff – friendly, efficient and always happy to see you. Coffee – to die for!!! Hands down the smoothest coffee in town (and for kilometres either way) Food – when you want homemade (but don’t wanna cook), this is where it’s at. You can taste the fresh ingredients in everything they cook. Cost and accessibility – absolutely the best value for family feeds! Love that they offer delivery services too.”

Flic was equally complimentary in her vote: “I’m always impressed by the outstanding customer service. The staff are always incredibly friendly, attentive, and make me feel genuinely welcome. The food is always absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The prices are Unbeatable for the quality you get. Highly recommended!”

“Their staff go above and beyond for their customers. Their food is always delicious and fresh. The fact that the shop is always full of customers confirms that they are the best,” said Jennie.

Last year, East Armidale Store’s win was driven by enthusiastic support from locals who praised its outstanding burgers and milkshakes. This year’s repeat win reaffirms that the business is doing something right. The team’s consistent quality, attention to detail, and friendly service continues to earn the trust and loyalty of customers throughout the region.

With back-to-back wins now under their belt, East Armidale Store has firmly cemented its place as a local favourite—and one of the best takeaway shops in the region.
