Voters in this year’s Best in the New England awards could not separate two outstanding local builders, with Mitch Cooper Building and Integrity New Homes Armidale tying for the title of Best Builder.

Despite their differences in structure and style, both businesses won strong community support for their craftsmanship, customer service, and reliability. The result reflects the high standards and loyalty each builder has built in the region.

Based in Armidale, Mitch Cooper Building is a small, hands-on team known for their fast, professional work across everything from new homes to decks and concreting. Mitch Cooper said the award was a rewarding recognition after nearly a decade in business.

“After eight years in business, it’s an honour to be recognised in the Best in New England,” he said. “From concreting to new bathrooms to full new builds, we’ve been proud to grow with our clients and community.

“A huge thank you to every client who’s trusted us over the years — and to the team who shows up every day ready to deliver their best. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without you.”

Voters were quick to praise Mitch and his team for their work ethic and quality builds.

“Mitch is a quality and trusted builder in the New England,” wrote Tara. “He gets the job done with a great team of quality tradies.”

Julie said: “He and his team are fast, do a great job, and are very respectful. You don’t have to wait too long for results.”

Others praised the “great team of boys” who “always go the extra mile” and consistently deliver professional, timely work.

Meanwhile, Integrity New Homes Armidale impressed voters with its blend of local focus and corporate backing, offering clients the reliability of a larger company with the personal service of a family-run operation.

Operating under a national franchise, the Uralla-based local branch is led by Ralph Westley, who is known for taking a hands-on approach and directly supervising every project. The company works across new homes as well as renovations and additions, using a trusted team of experienced trades.

“A local builder with the power of a large company, so you get the best of both worlds,” wrote Lynelle. “Customised build for reasonable prices.”

Others praised the team’s communication and customer care.

“Very approachable, on time, great communication and exemplary job,” Shannon said.

“Top quality work, professional, completed in a timely manner,” added Diana.

The tie between the two builders highlights the diversity of the region’s building industry — from independent operators like Mitch Cooper Building delivering high-quality personalised service, to the professional systems and scale offered by Integrity New Homes.

In the end, voters appreciated both approaches, sending a clear message that reliability, workmanship, and trust matter more than size or style.
