Can Assist Armidale has an extra $4000 to help local cancer patients thanks to its Autumn Charity Luncheon and month-long fundraising efforts at Armidale’s Whitebull Hotel.

The Autumn Luncheon, held on Tuesday, 20 May, the luncheon brought together over 40 guests for an afternoon of food, connection and heartfelt giving, all in support of Can Assist Armidale—a local branch of the long-standing charity that provides financial and practical assistance to cancer patients in rural and regional NSW.

Guests were treated to a gourmet three-course meal from Manny’s on Marsh, paired with moving moments and charitable generosity. A highlight of the afternoon was guest speaker Margaret Adams, who shared her personal story of surviving brain cancer.

“We were blown away by the overwhelming support from our community,” a Whitebull Hotel spokesperson said.

“The turnout exceeded expectations, and it was incredibly moving to see everyone come together for such an important cause.”

“Cancer affects so many lives, and we are honoured to play a role in supporting those in need.”

The event itself raised more than $3,500 through ticket sales and charity raffles. Adding to this, the Whitebull ran a month-long promotion throughout May, pledging $1 from every pint or schooner of New England Pale Ale sold to Can Assist. This raised an additional $500, bringing the total to more than $4,000.

Funds raised will go directly to Can Assist Armidale to help ease the financial pressure on local cancer patients and their families. Whether it’s travel for treatment, accommodation, or covering the cost of essential medications, Can Assist steps in to ensure no one faces cancer alone due to where they live or what they earn.

For those who couldn’t make it to the luncheon but still wish to help, donations can be made directly to Can Assist Armidale.
