A man has been remanded in custody charged with murder after the death of a child at Tamworth earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to a home in Hillvue Road, South Tamworth, about 3.45pm on Saturday, January 18, after a two-year-old child was found unconscious.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the child at the scene before taking him to Tamworth Base Hospital where he later died.
Detectives attached to Oxley Police District established Strike Force Agriel and – with the assistance of State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 23-year-old man at a home in Gunnedah about 6.45pm on Friday, January 31.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with murder (domestic violence).
The man has since been remanded in custody to next appear in Tamworth Local Court on April 16.
