Earlier this month, Respect welcomed the home known as Killean into our not-for-profit aged care community. As we start this new chapter with Inverell, we believe it’s an ideal time to acknowledge this exciting new direction by updating the homeโs name to reflect what’s meaningful to the community.
Importantly, we want the new name to recognise the history behind the home, and we are inviting staff, residents, families and the community to have their say in this important decision.
Hector Neil McLean was an Inverell grazier and community figure who left his property, Killean, in his will to establish a convalescent home for the people of Inverell. That generous act helped create the home that stands on the site today.
We think itโs important that his contribution continues to be recognised, which is why each of the proposed names retains McLean.
Weโre inviting residents, families, staff and people from across the Inverell community to tell us which name they think fits best.
