Rodeo’s best will battle for national titles in Tamworth this January, as the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) marks 80 years with three themed nights at its National Finals.
Tickets are now on sale for the ABCRA National Finals Rodeo, which returns to the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) from Thursday, 21 January to Saturday, 23 January 2027, during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The three-night event will combine elite competition with live country music, themed celebrations, and entertainment for the whole family.
Australian country music artist Jake Whittaker will take to the stage during the Finals, celebrating the strong connection between rodeo and country music, with more artists to be announced.
“The National Finals are about bringing people together, and this year we’re offering three fantastic nights of rodeo action, live country music and entertainment that everyone can enjoy,” said ABCRA President Jeff Edwards.
“Each night will have its own atmosphere, from the excitement of Diamonds & Dust on Thursday through to Legends & Legacy on Friday and our Champions Finals Night on Saturday.”
The themed nights are:
- Thursday, 21 January, Diamonds & Dust: Opening night, with spectators encouraged to dress to impress in their country western best.
- Friday, 22 January, Legends & Legacy: A night honouring rodeo’s heritage as the ABCRA celebrates its 80th anniversary, recognising the competitors, families, volunteers, and communities who have shaped the association over eight decades.
- Saturday, 23 January, Champions Finals Night: The final showdown, as Australia’s leading competitors battle for national honours.
“Whether you’re a lifelong rodeo supporter, visiting Tamworth for the Country Music Festival or simply looking for a great night out with family and friends, there’s something for everyone, and we’d love to see people come along and experience it,” Mr Edwards said.
For the first time, the Finals will also offer the Legends Lounge, a premium hospitality experience available across all three nights.
It will feature Platinum seating above the chutes, an exclusive air-conditioned marquee, and locally sourced food, drinks, and entertainment.
“We’re always looking at ways to build on the National Finals experience, and the Legends Lounge is something we’re particularly excited to introduce this year,” said ABCRA CEO Chris Webb.
“It’s about giving people the opportunity to enjoy the very best of the rodeo in a premium setting, with fantastic views of the arena, great local food and hospitality, and a comfortable space to enjoy the entertainment throughout the evening.”
“Whether it’s a group of friends, corporate guests or visitors wanting to make a special occasion of their night at the Finals, we think the Legends Lounge will be a fantastic addition to the event.”
Beyond the arena, visitors can also enjoy The Yard Food Festival.
The next generation of rodeo competitors will get their chance to shine too, with junior rodeo events on Wednesday, 20 January and Thursday, 21 January. Entry to the junior events is free.
Spectators can attend one night, two nights, or all three.
