Residents across Moree Plains Shire will have easier access to bin collection reminders, waste service updates and recycling information following the launch of an updated council app.
Moree Plains Shire Council is encouraging households to download the latest version of its free Waste and Recycling App, which aims to simplify waste management and help residents stay informed about local services.
The app sends reminders directly to users’ phones about upcoming bin collections, along with real-time alerts about service changes, landfill operations and transfer station updates.
Residents can also report missed collections, damaged or stolen bins and other waste-related issues through the app.
Council Waste Manager James Maxwell said the updated technology would help households keep track of their waste services while reducing confusion around collection days.
“With busy work schedules, kids sport and the general day to day, remembering which bin goes out each week can easily slip your mind. The refreshed Waste App keeps all the information and provides reminders straight to your phone when you need them,” Maxwell said.
“The app is a simple, practical tool to help residents stay on top of collection days, while also making it easier to report issues such as damaged, stolen or missed bins. The Waste App has already been very popular with residents keen to avoid the early morning dash to check which bin their neighbours have wheeled out to the kerb”.
The updated app also includes bulky waste collection information and a booking form, as well as an alphabetical recycling guide to help residents determine which items belong in each bin.
The council hopes the additional features will make it easier for residents to access essential waste information, report problems and manage household recycling.
Anyone using the previous version of the council’s waste app is being encouraged to delete it and download the latest version to ensure they receive current notifications and service updates.
The free app is available by searching for ‘LoopedIn Councils’ in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and selecting Moree Plains Shire Council.
