Charities and not-for-profits in Narrabri, Moree, and across the New England North West can now apply for a share of $100,000 from Port of Newcastle.
Applications are open for the port’s 2026 Your Port, Our Community grants, which support projects that deliver social or environmental benefits and strengthen local communities.
The grants are open to eligible groups across the port’s trade catchment, which takes in the New England, North West, Newcastle, the Hunter, and the Central West.
“From Newcastle and Maitland to Narrabri, Moree, Dubbo and beyond, we are committed to supporting the local organisations working every day to make these communities stronger,” said Port of Newcastle Executive Manager Corporate Affairs Lucas Coleman.
Since 2014, the port has given more than $1.1 million to charities and not-for-profits through the program.
“This reflects our long-term commitment to backing local organisations that understand what their communities need and have strong ideas for creating lasting impact,” Mr Coleman said.
Grants can help organisations deliver a new program, extend an existing service, or buy essential equipment.
“Whether it’s helping an organisation deliver a new program, extend an existing service or purchase essential equipment, this funding can turn a great idea into something practical that makes a real difference,” Mr Coleman said.
Last year’s recipients included the Cancer Patients Foundation, which used its grant to bring an extra 100 people undergoing cancer treatment in the Hunter New England Health District into its Look Good Feel Better program.
“We are extremely grateful for Port of Newcastle’s generous support and the meaningful difference it has made to the lives of over 100 people undergoing cancer treatment across the Newcastle community,” said Cancer Patients Foundation and Look Good Feel Better General Manager Carol Kavurma.
Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT also received funding in 2025, to provide children in the Newcastle region with therapies, adaptive equipment, and wigs not covered by government funding.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 16 October.
