A 15-year-old boy has faced court after a woman was allegedly wounded with a knife during an attempted car robbery in Moree.
Police were called to a park on Warialda Street about 8.30pm on Tuesday, September 15, following reports a woman had been assaulted.
Officers found a woman aged in her 40s with a knife wound to her hand.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman before taking her to Moree Hospital.
Police were told the woman had been sitting in an SUV when several young people approached the vehicle.
At least one member of the group was allegedly armed with a knife when they opened a car door and demanded the woman’s keys.
Police allege the group dragged the woman from the vehicle, causing a laceration to her hand.
The woman fled on foot before one of the young people allegedly chased her and grabbed her shoulder.
Passers-by intervened and assisted the woman.
The group allegedly fled through the park towards Alice Street, while the woman’s mobile phone was reported missing.
Police established a crime scene and began investigating.
Following inquiries, officers arrested a 15-year-old boy in Moree about 9am on Thursday, September 24.
He was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery with wounding/grievous bodily harm.
The teenager was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Thursday.
Police inquiries are continuing.
