NEGS has backed up its drought-breaking 2025 netball season with another Division 1 championship, completing a successful year for the Armidale school.
New England Girls’ School claimed the 2026 Armidale District Netball Association Division 1 title, making it two championships in as many years.
Last year’s victory was the school’s first Division 1 title since 2006, ending a 19-year wait.
NEGS continued that momentum this season, with its Division 3 side also crowned champion.
With Division 2 run as a social competition, the results gave NEGS titles in the top two competitive divisions and helped the school secure the ADNA Secondary School Girls Champions Shield.
The success extended beyond the team results, with several NEGS players and umpires recognised individually.
Amanda Knight was named Division 3 Best and Fairest, while Ruby Bamford took out the Division 5 Best and Fairest award.
Maeve Curry was named ADNA Umpire of the Year, with Bailee Hague recognised as the association’s Most Improved Umpire.
The school has credited its recent success to its training program and increased focus on player development and sportsmanship.
After ending a 19-year drought in 2025 and successfully defending the Division 1 title this year, NEGS will head into the 2027 season chasing a third straight championship.
