Ten community groups across Gunnedah, Moree, Narrabri and Wee Waa have secured Volunteer Grants funding, as part of a wider round that saw 42 organisations across the electorate of Parkes share in $62,966.
Federal Member for Parkes Jamie Chaffey MP announced the successful applicants this week, with grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 available through the program to purchase communication or insurance items, or to support volunteer-run activities.
“I’m pleased to announce that a total of $62,966 in 2025-26 Volunteer Grants has been awarded to 42 organisations across the electorate,” Mr Chaffey said.
“The Volunteer Grants support the work of community organisations that rely on volunteers, and we know there are many of them in the communities that make up the electorate of Parkes.”
The Gunedah recipients are Gunnedah Athletics Club ($1,100), the Rotary Club of Gunnedah West ($1,000), Gunnedah and District Soccer ($2,000) and Gunnedah Touch Association ($2,000).
In Moree, Moree Football Club ($2,733), Moree Show Society ($1,200) and Moree Junior Soccer Club ($2,000) were all successful.
Narrabri Jockey Club ($1,000) and Narrabri Netball Association ($1,200) also secured funding, as did the Wee Waa and District Historical Society ($2,000).
“So many people give their time, their talents and their resources to make regional communities wonderful places to live,” he said.
“There was strong interest in this program, and the results show just how motivated and determined our not-for-profit groups are to provide activities and services. It is inspiring to see these groups so engaged in their own communities and beyond.”
Organisations were nominated by Mr Chaffey and applied through the Australian Government following an expression of interest process.
“I congratulate all the successful applicants and look forward to seeing the funding put to use in the Parkes electorate,” Mr Chaffey said.
