A 20-year-old man remains in hospital after being stabbed at a Boggabilla unit on Sunday evening, with detectives now investigating the incident.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Brown Street about 6pm following reports a man had been stabbed.
Officers from the New England Police District arrived to find the man with serious stab wounds to his abdomen.
He was assessed by Queensland Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Goondiwindi Hospital in a critical condition.
The man was later airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for surgery. He remains in a stable condition.
Police have established a crime scene at the unit, and New England detectives have commenced inquiries into the incident.
