Tamworth residents can expect to see more fire trucks and smoke around the city on Sunday as NSW Rural Fire Service crews carry out a major district training exercise.
Multiple RFS vehicles and personnel will be operating around Tamworth on September 13 as part of the Tamworth District Exercise, with increased emergency service traffic expected throughout the day.
A one-hectare hazard reduction burn will also be conducted, with smoke potentially visible across West Tamworth, Taminda, Hillvue, Westdale and surrounding areas.
Smoke may also be seen from the Oxley Highway and Gunnedah Road area, Bithramere and Warral.
Residents are being advised the increased activity is part of the planned exercise and there is no need for alarm.
“If you see smoke or fire trucks in the area, there is no need to be alarmed. Please drive carefully around emergency vehicles and follow any directions from personnel on site.”
