Armidale volunteers have served hot meals and refreshments to locals sleeping rough for a night to raise money for homelessness services.
Rapid Relief Team volunteers supported the Vinnies Community Sleepout in Armidale, providing participants with soup, burgers and coffee.
The Armidale event was one of three Community Sleepouts supported by the Rapid Relief Team across NSW, alongside events in Orange and Greater Sydney. More than 200 meals were served across the three locations.
The Vinnies Community Sleepout gives locals an opportunity to experience a night of sleeping rough while raising money and awareness for people experiencing homelessness.
Armidale Rapid Relief Team leader Doug Scott said the organisation was pleased to again support the St Vincent de Paul Society and its work in the community.
“Rapid Relief Team is honoured to work with St Vincents de Paul Society by providing catering for the Vinnies Community Sleepouts,” said Scott.
“They are a wonderful opportunity for locals to come together, while raising awareness of the realities of sleeping rough and fundraising for an important cause.
“The money raised by these events stays local to help locals, which is fantastic. Well done Vinnies!”
Rapid Relief Team volunteers from Armidale, Orange and Kellyville supported the three events.
