Armidale Blues and Tamworth Magpies piled on the points in a high-scoring round 17 of the New England Rugby Union competition.
In first grade, Armidale Blues recorded a commanding 121-5 victory over Baa Baa’s, with Rhodes-Swain crossing for eight tries and O’Neil and Roff scoring three apiece. Smith kicked 12 conversions.
Tamworth Magpies also passed the century mark in their 102-26 win over Robb College. Humphries led the try-scoring with four, while Harrison crossed three times.
Walcha completed the first-grade results with a 38-14 victory over Barraba Rams. Walcha ran in six tries, with Heeney also adding four conversions.
In second grade, Albies defeated Glen Innes 60-5. Mcauliffe and Powick scored two tries each for Albies, while Herring kicked five conversions.
Third grade produced a one-point thriller, with Tenterfield Bumblebees edging Albies 34-33. Cusack scored a hat-trick for Tenterfield, while Hail crossed twice for Albies.
Armidale Blues enjoyed another convincing victory in third grade, defeating Baa Baa’s 60-19. Pease was the standout with five tries.
Tamworth Magpies recorded a 28-0 win over Robb College on forfeit.
There were also several big scores in the women’s 10s competition.
Robb College defeated Tamworth Magpies 76-5, with Stanmore scoring four tries and Barrett adding three tries and eight conversions.
Baa Baa’s secured a 56-19 victory over Armidale Blues. Danieli crossed three times, while Grant and Edwards each scored two tries.
Albies rounded out the women’s results with a 41-24 win over Glen Innes. Corderoy, Wilkinson and Wiseman each scored two tries for Albies.
