Seven people have been charged following a police investigation into the alleged supply of stolen firearms and drugs across the New England region.
Officers attached to New England Police District established Strike Force Harpool to investigate the alleged trafficking of stolen firearm parts and illicit drugs.
The investigation has resulted in a series of arrests and search warrants across Inverell, Warialda and Pallamallawa over the past two weeks.
A 39-year-old Inverell man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on Saturday, July 11, after police allegedly seized 500g of cannabis and cash. Both were refused bail after being charged with multiple drug, firearm and domestic violence-related offences.
Police later executed search warrants at three properties in Warialda, allegedly seizing small quantities of methylamphetamine and cannabis.
Further warrants were carried out in Warialda, Pallamallawa and Inverell, where officers allegedly seized 15g of cocaine, 18g of methylamphetamine, 41g of MDMA, a small quantity of cannabis and mobile phones from a Herbert Street property.
Two Inverell men, aged 28 and 36, were arrested and later granted conditional bail after being charged with drug offences.
Police also issued future court attendance notices to a 26-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman over alleged drug, firearm and proceeds of crime offences. A 31-year-old man was also issued with a court attendance notice for allegedly possessing a prohibited drug.
Police will allege the 39-year-old and 26-year-old men were involved in supplying stolen firearm parts within the New England region.
The seven accused are due to face courts in Inverell and Moree over the coming weeks.
Investigations under Strike Force Harpool are continuing.
