Families are invited to share in a morning of storytelling, music and puppetry when Spike the Echidna comes to the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial School of Arts Museum and Theatre on Saturday, 8 August, at 10.30am.
Created especially for family audiences, Spike the Echidna combines original music, handcrafted puppetry and interactive storytelling in a production that entertains while encouraging conversations about belonging, kindness, resilience and standing up for others.
The story follows a baby echidna separated from his family and a young girl searching for the confidence to face bullying. Together, they discover that everyone has a place to belong and the courage to be themselves.
Following the performance, children and families are invited to take part in a hands-on shadow puppetry demonstration, giving young people the chance to explore creative storytelling techniques and engage directly with the artists.
The event offers more than a morning of entertainment. It provides an opportunity for local families to experience live performance together, introduces children to the performing arts in an accessible and welcoming environment, and supports cultural opportunities in the Tenterfield community.
As part of Arts North West on Tour, the production demonstrates the importance of bringing professional arts experiences to regional NSW, ensuring communities such as Tenterfield can enjoy the same high-quality cultural events available in metropolitan centres.
