Tracey O'Brien, AM NSW Premier's Woman of Excellence 2026

Nominations are now open for the 2027 NSW Women of the Year Awards, which recognise the women and girls making a difference across NSW.

Since 2012, the annual awards have celebrated women and girls whose determination, bravery, skill and passion have inspired their communities and improved the lives of people across the state. The awards recognise role models who challenge inequality, drive innovation and create positive change.

Nominations are invited in the following categories:

  • NSW Premier’s Woman of Excellence Award: this award recognises a woman who has excelled in her chosen field, created lasting change and inspired others.
  • NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year Award: this award recognises an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander woman who promotes economic, cultural and/or social opportunities for Aboriginal people in NSW.
  • NSW Community Hero Award: this award celebrates an extraordinary woman whose dedication has made a significant contribution to her local community.
  • NSW Regional Woman of the Year Award: this award recognises an exceptional woman living outside Greater Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong whose achievements have strengthened her regional community.
  • NSW Young Woman of the Year Award: this award recognises a woman aged 16 to 30 who has demonstrated outstanding potential or achievement in her chosen field, passion or area of interest.
  • Ones to Watch: This program recognises girls aged 7 to 15 who have shown courage, bravery, strength, determination and/or kindness through a single act or ongoing commitment to supporting others. Up to 10 girls will be recognised as the next generation of rising stars, profiled as part of the awards program and acknowledged at the awards ceremony in Sydney. Nominations for this category can be submitted only by a parent, guardian or schoolteacher.

Nominations close at 11:59 pm on Thursday, 13 August, 2026.

Recipients will be announced at the NSW Women of the Year Awards ceremony on Thursday, 4 March 2027, in Sydney as part of NSW Women’s Week, which runs from 2 to 8 March 2027.

Award eligibility requirements and terms and conditions are available with the nomination information.
