Teenager charged after police pursuit in Moree

Double demerit points will apply for the holiday season

A 14-year-old boy has faced court after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Moree on Saturday.

Police say officers from New England Police District were conducting random breath testing about 6:10 am on Saturday, 20 June, when a sedan allegedly failed to stop as directed.

According to police, a pursuit was initiated and the vehicle travelled through several residential streets before colliding with an electricity pole on Anne Street.

No injuries were reported.

Police allege the driver fled from the vehicle into a nearby unit complex before being arrested at a nearby residence.

The boy was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with police pursuit, not stop, drive at speed, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and breach of bail.

He appeared before a children’s court on Saturday, where he was granted conditional bail. He is due to reappear before a children’s court on 23 July 2026.
