A B-Double truck has attempted to go under the Viaduct in Armidale and failed in a spectacular scene.
The truck belonging to Queensland trucking company Richers Transport crashed into the 3.9m high viaduct in McLennan Street around 12.30pm this afternoon, causing some damage to the truck. But in trying to get himself out of the situation, he caused quite a dangerous scene.

According to Greg Cameron who was on the scene, the driver “set himself up for the perfect trap”.
“He dropped the back trailer so he could manoeuvre. Turned around with the lead trailer still on.”
“Then tried to drop the lead so he could reposition the back… completely overlooking the fact that the lead trailer was full of concrete, meaning the weight was insane and it just see‑sawed upward the moment he pulled the prime mover out.”

NSW Police have confirmed officers attached to New England Police District arrived and found a B double truck had crashed into an overhead rail bridge.
The driver – a 40-year-old man – was subjected to roadside breath and drug test which returned a negative result.
There were no reports of injuries or other vehicles damaged.
National Heavy Vehicle Regulators (NHVR) were called to assess the vehicle. Armidale Regional Council were called to assess the bridge, which was deemed structurally safe.
A road closure is currently in place as work is underway to clear the route, with a local detour available.
Richers Transport have been contacted for comment.
