More than 3,300 homes and businesses across Narrabri can now access the next generation of broadband connectivity, with nbn making Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) upgrades available to eligible properties across the community.
As Australians increasingly rely on the internet for work, study, entertainment and everyday life, demand for faster and more reliable broadband continues to grow. The latest expansion of nbn full fibre technology is helping regional communities like Narrabri keep pace with changing digital needs.
An upgrade to full fibre can provide access to faster and more reliable nbn broadband services, making it easier for households and businesses to stay connected. Whether it is streaming movies and television in ultra-high definition, participating in online learning, working from home, making video calls, gaming online, or managing multiple connected devices, full fibre technology is designed to support modern internet demands.
The way Australians use the internet has changed dramatically over the past decade. Ten years ago, the average household used around 40 gigabytes of data each month across approximately seven connected devices. Today, that figure has grown to an average of 557 gigabytes per month across 22 internet-connected devices.
With more smart televisions, gaming consoles, laptops, tablets, smartphones, security systems and smart home devices connected than ever before, reliable broadband has become an essential service for many households and businesses.
Recent speed increases on higher-tier nbn plans, along with the availability of multi-gigabit speed options, have made the benefits of full fibre even more attractive for those looking to future-proof their connectivity.
Head of nbn Local NSW Tom O’Dea said regional communities should have access to the same quality broadband experiences as those living in metropolitan areas.
“Households are consuming more data than ever for the things they love, like streaming 4K on multiple devices, online education, next-level gaming, conference calls, and uploading and downloading large files for work,” Mr O’Dea said.
“Australians deserve access to fast, effective broadband, regardless of whether they live in a major city or a country town.”
Mr O’Dea encouraged residents to learn more about the opportunities available through the full fibre upgrade program and to speak directly with nbn representatives about their options.
The nbn team will visit Narrabri to help residents and businesses understand full fibre benefits and check eligibility, with in-person sessions each Thursday and Friday at the Narrabri Community Kiosk Info Hub and Narrabri Bunnings Info Hub until 5 June 2026. Community members can drop in to ask questions and learn how faster broadband could support their needs. The team will also attend the Narrabri Business Chamber Launch Breakfast at The Crossing Theatre on Thursday 18 June (8:00am–9:30am), with a final visit on 18 and 19 June.
Eligible premises may be able to upgrade to full fibre through their preferred participating retail service provider, often with no charge.
