Country charm for kids, back to nature to heal

From handmade kidswear to natural herbal balms, Walandella Designs and Mims Remedies are creating with care in Tamworth — local, unique and made with heart.

Walandella Designs is creating handmade baby and children’s clothing that blends practicality with country charm.

Run by Gina, a mum of two young girls in Tamworth, the business focuses on thoughtfully made, high-quality pieces designed to be as unique as the children who wear them.

“Everything is handmade,” she said.

“I specialise in custom order so the stockist or customer can choose the fabrics that suit them.”

Walandella Designs offers both ready-made and custom pieces. Ready-made items are released in small batches throughout the month, often in very limited quantities.

“Ready-made items are uploaded at various times throughout the month, with most being 1–10 of a kind, and most will not be able to be made again,” Gina said.

“I pride myself on creating limited edition/small batch pieces so each piece is made with 110% love and your little one treasures a piece that is as unique as they are.”

Custom orders are also always available, allowing customers to select fabrics and sizing to suit.

“Custom listings are unlimited and always available on the website,” she said.

Behind the scenes, the business is entirely run by Gina. Every product is made locally, with a focus on quality over volume.

“Every walandella designs product is handmade right here in Australia,” Gina said.

“I am proud of this, and always choose quality over quantity.”

Customer support remains central to the business.

“Each day I see it grow more and more, and that is due to you lovely people that want to support local/handmade,” she said.

“When I receive those photos from you with my products on your little loves, it makes it all worth it.”

Walandella Designs is stocked locally at The Clique Curation in Armidale, Little Windmill Clothing Co in Scone, Serendipity and Tajoh & GG in Tamworth, and Stone’s Throw in Walgett, or can be purchased online.

A focus on natural living and simple ingredients is at the heart of Mims Remedies, a small herbal apothecary based in Tamworth.

Created by Mim, the business specialises in botanical balms, salves and aromatherapeutic oils, alongside a selection of skin, nail and hair care products and handmade jewellery. Her journey into herbal remedies began with a long-held passion for natural health.

“I’ve always been passionate about a natural lifestyle and medicine which led me to study the foundations of herbalism and Aromatherapy,” she said.

“I’m a mum of 4 grown up children and run a small family daycare on the days I’m not making a new batch of balms, tending herbs or creating a necklace,” she said.

At the core of Mims Remedies are its handcrafted balms, made using herbs that are often grown by Mim herself or sourced locally.

The use of natural, plant-based ingredients is a key point of difference, with Mim choosing sunflower wax to ensure her products remain fully botanical.

“I use sunflower wax to keep my products fully botanical and allow more customers to access my products,” she said.

The range is designed to support a variety of everyday needs, from skincare to wellness.

“If you need skincare, hormonal help, a chest balm, a heat rub or natural deodorant, I have it covered and more,” she said.

She has also recently added a range of herbal tea.

Mims Remedies reflects a growing interest in returning to natural alternatives, with a focus on simple, effective products made with care and intention.

“My aim is to eliminate as many toxins from life and enjoy the simple things as nature intended,” she said.

For Mim, it is about more than just creating products — it is about helping people reconnect with a more natural way of living.
