One of Australia’s oldest racing traditions returns in 2026 as the Deepwater Races mark 160 years of country racing history.

The annual event promises a full day of excitement, with six races on the card including the feature event, the Deepwater Cup, run over 1200 metres.

Racegoers can enjoy trackside viewing from the historic grandstand, built by local hands in 1876, and take in a classic country racing atmosphere complete with traditional bookmakers, on-course TAB facilities, food stalls and a country-style can bar.

“Experience the excitement of one of Australia’s oldest racing events,” organisers said. “Cheer on your horse from our historic grandstand.”

Off the track, Fashions on the Field will be held after the final race, with live music to follow as the sun sets. Food and bar service will continue until 9pm.

To ensure easy access to and from the racecourse, a free community bus will run from the Deepwater Hotel, also home to the Deepwater Jockey Club Calcutta, throughout the day.

The event takes place on Saturday, 24 January 2026

“Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable day of country racing!”
