The Rotary Club of Armidale Central is setting the scene for a festive season of reading, learning, and bargain-hunting, announcing a special pre-Christmas Children’s Christmas Book Sale to be held on Saturday 13 December.
Running from 9.30am to 4pm at the club’s Book Depot on the corner of Dumaresq and Canambe Streets, the sale promises thousands of quality titles at unbeatable prices – perfect for Christmas gifts or building up home libraries before the school holidays.
This one-day event comes in addition to the club’s major annual Book Fair held each May, which this year raised more than $100,000, with the majority of funds supporting local community programs and projects. Thanks to ongoing generosity from residents across Armidale and the wider region, donations have continued flowing long after the Book Fair wrapped up.
President Kerry Myers said the volume of incoming books, particularly children’s titles, made the pre-Christmas sale both timely and essential.
“Due to the continuing generosity of Armidale people, the club has a stockpile of books, including kids’ books, that are stretching the resources of our storage,” he said. “We have to clear the decks to make room for next year’s Book Fair stock.”
Families will be able to browse thousands of carefully sorted children’s books, from picture books to junior fiction, non-fiction favourites, classics, and educational titles. Prices start at just $1, making it an affordable way for parents, grandparents, and carers to stock up ahead of the summer break.
And it’s not just the kids who will be spoiled for choice.
“Also on sale will be a big selection of novels for grown-ups, and other books that will keep you entertained over the Christmas holidays,” Mr Myers said.
Whether you’re looking for crime, romance, history, biography, cookbooks, craft, or contemporary bestsellers, the shelves will be packed with options – most priced at $3.
Adding even more variety, the Rotary team will also be offering a large assortment of DVDs, CDs and games for young and old, all priced at $2.
“Plus, there will be a great selection of DVDs, CDs and games for young and old,” Mr Myers added.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags, although EFTPOS will be available for convenience. Volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to assist and help customers find what they’re looking for.
The Rotary Club is encouraging the community to mark their calendars and take advantage of the chance to pick up high-quality books and entertainment items at budget-friendly prices – while supporting a service organisation that invests back into Armidale year after year.
The Children’s Christmas Book Sale will be held Saturday 13 December, 9.30am–4pm, at the Rotary Book Depot, corner of Dumaresq and Canambe Streets. For more information visit the Armidale Central Rotary Club Facebook page.
