Stephanie Cameron has been appointed the New England North West Regional Director for peak business advocacy body Business NSW, bringing with her almost two decades of business ownership experience and more than 30 years of living and working in the region.
Cameron replaces Diane Gray who finished up in the role earlier this month. Previously of GSG Laboratories, the accomplished science and business leader from Tamworth has over 25 years working across laboratory operations, governance, sustainability and community leadership.
In her new role, Stephanie said she is focused on ensuring the priorities of businesses across the New England North West are understood and strongly represented.
“I am excited to take on the role of Regional Director and be a strong advocate for businesses across the New England North West.
“My focus will be on representing the region’s needs and priorities to help advance the investment, infrastructure, and policies that support sustainable growth and prosperity into the future,” she said.
Cameron said she is particularly looking forward to connecting businesses across the region.
“I think I’m looking forward to, you know, connecting up businesses across the region, to work together to make our region a place, a better place to work, live and play.”
Business NSW are confident her background positions her strongly to lead advocacy efforts across a region dealing with rising operating costs, housing pressures and workforce shortages.
Cameron said her immediate priorities reflect the pressures local businesses are feeling.
“I think the cost of doing business and red tape is my first priority. You know, it just seems like it’s getting worse and worse, the cost of insurance, so cost of everything,” she said.
“I think the other one is housing affordability and availability. For a lot of businesses, you’re trying to get people to move to our region, and then you can’t, because they can’t find a house to live in.”
She said ensuring the region has the foundations for long-term growth is also front of mind.
“Just making sure that businesses have got the infrastructure they need in our region to grow and prosper.”
The outgoing Gray said the region is in good hands.
“I am delighted to be handing over the reins to someone of her calibre, and I know the region will be in very good hands.”
“It has truly been an honour to meet so many passionate people, to collaborate on initiatives that matter, and to help drive advocacy and support development in what we proudly call God’s Country. The relationships built and the collective achievements we have delivered together are something I will always value.”
