Gunnedah residents are warmly invited to attend the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree on Friday, 28 November, in Brock’s Court.

The lighting of the Shire’s Christmas tree marks the beginning of the festive season and is an opportunity for residents to come together as a community.

From 7 pm, there will be a free barbecue and live music from The Uke-Alypts and the Gunnedah Conservatorium. Gunnedah Shire Mayor Colleen Fuller will light the tree at 7:30 pm, and Santa will make an appearance, giving locals the opportunity to take their own family photos.

Cr Fuller said she was not hosting a Mayoral Christmas party this year, but she was looking forward to catching up with community members at the tree lighting.

“I know people look forward to the Mayoral Christmas party, but this year we felt it would be great to change up Christmas celebrations in the Gunnedah Shire and focus on a free, family-friendly event that includes everyone.” said Fuller.

“In exciting news, we will be lighting a real Christmas tree, which was planted for this very purpose some years ago.”

“So, tell your friends about the festivities and come along for a jolly evening.”
