On Thursday 16 October 2025, the Tenterfield Golf Club will host the Tenterfield Business and Industry ProspER Forum. Organised by Business NSW Northern Rivers in partnership with the Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism, Industry and Business, the evening will bring together local leaders, business owners, and stakeholders to explore pathways for sustainable and prosperous development.
The forum is built around the region’s enduring strengths — resilient local businesses, a solid agricultural foundation, growing visitor appeal, and Tenterfield’s key position as a gateway between New South Wales and Queensland. The goal? To convert those advantages into long-term opportunities for innovation, growth, and community connection.
A central theme of the event is ProspER — a regional economic and environmental strategy through to 2040 built on a “wellbeing economy” philosophy. Instead of focusing solely on traditional metrics like GDP, ProspER aims to balance economic vitality with human and ecological wellbeing. Attendees will be encouraged to envision how Tenterfield can lead in this hybrid model of prosperity.
Kathryn Davis, President of the Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism Industry and Business, is excited for the opportunity to get the community together and plan for the future.
“We’ve had a huge response so far,” she said.
“We’ll have the forum at the Golf Club on the Thursday evening and then there will also be some induvial meeting on Friday.”
The forum promises to be both inspiring and practical: participants will have the chance to hear from expert voices, collaborate in breakout-style discussions, and shape ideas that stay close to the ground in Tenterfield. By doing so, local business leaders and community members will help define what prosperity looks like for their region — beyond mere economic growth toward a more holistic future.
“We know what the community needs – things like affordable housing, more workers, better connections between the surrounding villages and town, improved parking in the centre of town – but this is about working out a plan of how all this is going to happen,” said Ms Davis.
“We’re looking to have our plan finalised by mid-next year and this will then shape how the community’s economic development is mapped out until 2040.”
Tenterfield’s appeal lies not only in its heritage and natural assets but in its increasing profile as a destination in its own right. The town is already drawing interest for its mix of culture, nature, and business potential. The ProspER Forum aims to tap into that momentum, positioning Tenterfield as a place to live, invest, visit, and grow.
The forum runs from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Tenterfield Golf Club, located at 288 Pelham Street. While there is no explicit refund policy noted on the event listing, tickets are available through the Humanitix platform.
The ProspER Forum is more than a conversation about business — it’s a chance for the whole community to have a say in Tenterfield’s direction. Through shared ideas and strategic planning, local leaders are laying the groundwork for a future where Tenterfield’s unique character and potential can truly shine.
