Get involved with Tamworth’s night time and entertainment economies

Tamworth Regional Council is calling for the community to get involved in two projects that will help shape the future of live entertainment in Tamworth.

Council is currently exploring the creation of a Special Entertainment Precinct (SEP) to support and grow the city’s vibrant live music and performance culture, while also developing a Night Time Economy Strategy. The proposed precinct aims to make it easier for venues to host live entertainment while responsibly managing any potential impacts on nearby residents and businesses.

The project is being supported through grant funding from the NSW Government and will be shaped by local input at every stage.

As part of this initiative, Council is establishing a Special Entertainment Precinct Project Advisory Group. This group will provide feedback, generate ideas, and offer recommendations throughout the planning and development process.

“The group is part of Council’s commitment to work hand-in-hand with the local community and stakeholders to ensure any precinct is well planned and sustainable while also reflective of Tamworth’s unique character and community values,” said Tamworth Regional Council Strategic Planner Mitch Gillogly.

“That’s why we’re seeking input from a broad range of people – from venue operators and artists to residents and local business owners.”

Individuals with experience or an interest in live music, hospitality, event management, arts, or culture who can represent resident, community, and business perspectives and work collaboratively are encouraged to apply.

The Night Time Economy Strategy aims to boost the region’s 24-hour economy and further reinforce Tamworth’s reputation as the Country Music Capital of Australia.

“Currently in the stakeholder engagement stage, we’re looking for people to complete our online survey or attend the community workshops being held towards the end of October,” said Peter Ross, Executive Manager Creative Communities & Experiences at Tamworth Regional Council.

“The more feedback and suggestions we get, the better formed our strategy will be for our community.”
