Liverpool Plains Shire Council has formally adopted a new Growth Management and Housing Strategy to guide the long-term growth of the region and ensure that the community enjoys access to safe and secure housing.
Mayor Ken Cudmore said the strategy has been shaped through extensive community and stakeholder consultation on the future of housing in the Liverpool Plains Shire.
“The Growth Management and Housing Strategy serves as a blueprint to help ensure that the Liverpool Plains Shire reaches its full potential as a place to live, work, settle and raise a family,” Cr Cudmore said.
“The strategy outlines not just how we will accommodate and target growth and housing development in our shire, but also how Council will help remove barriers to development in our region and ensure that we’re taking, as far as practicable, a ‘red carpet’ rather than ‘red tape’ approach to development,” he said.
“Those of us who live in the Liverpool Plains Shire know that we live in an absolutely beautiful part of the New England-North West, and there’s incredible potential here for us to attract investment, grow our population, and grow our community.”
Mayor Cudmore said the Growth Management and Housing Strategy presents 16 clear actions for Council to deliver in order to facilitate the region’s growth.
“Implementing the strategy will take time, and we recognise that, but it’s an exciting challenge that our Councillors and staff are very much looking forward to,” he said.
“We are absolutely committed to supporting further housing and industrial development here in the Liverpool Plains, and that requires us to work collaboratively with developers, housing providers and government stakeholders to create new developments that are both affordable and environmentally sustainable.”
