Motorists are advised to expect changed traffic conditions on two key local roads from next week, with essential maintenance scheduled on Waterfall Way at Deer Vale and culvert repairs on the New England Highway at Ardglen.
On Waterfall Way, work will commence Monday 14 July between Nashs Road and Fernbrook Loop Road, Deer Vale. Maintenance will be carried out on weekdays from 9am to 5pm over the next three months, weather permitting. A single-lane, alternating traffic arrangement and reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place during work hours. Outside of those hours, the road will remain open with a 60km/h speed limit. Motorists should allow up to five extra minutes of travel time.
Meanwhile, work on the New England Highway at Ardglen will begin Tuesday 15 July and is expected to continue until Tuesday 29 July, weather permitting. Repairs will be undertaken from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 7am to 5pm on selected Saturdays. One lane will be closed during work hours, with stop/slow traffic control and a 60km/h speed limit in place.
Oversize vehicles wider than 3.5 metres may experience delays as traffic control teams clear cones or equipment to allow safe passage. Operators are urged to contact the project supervisor at least two days in advance to arrange access through the site.
Major roadworks and changed traffic conditions also continue at Tenterfield, including ongoing resurfacing of the New England Highway with portable traffic lights allowing vehicles through one direction at a time, with delays of up to 5 minutes.
Damage to the road pavement along the New England Highway caused by the diversion of Pacific Highway traffic in late may is still causing issues, with emergency roadworks still being undertaken at a number of spots between Guyra and Willow Tree.
Transport for NSW encourages all motorists to drive to conditions, follow signage, and allow extra travel time.
