The Wean Amateur Picnic Races returns next month giving punters and racegoers a family-friendly day of fun and hopefully some sun and good luck.
Showing off the Boggabri landscape at the Wean Racecourse, this calendar favourite provides the opportunity to step into a piece of living history, of true bush racing tradition.
New this year, organisers are promoting their gazebo packages up for grabs. What better way to enjoy the show than with a reserved racecourse-side gazebo, private bar access and exclusive reserved seating.
“Perfect for those wanting a comfortable base for the day with the best view of the action. Limited spots available – these will sell fast.”
But its not always about what’s happening on the track with fashions on the field a highlight of the event. This year’s theme is Black and White, so expect to see tuxedos a plenty and a few little black dresses.
And there will be plenty to entertain the little ones with face painting, a jumping castle and a running race of their own to tire them out.
These races are one of the few true picnic races still operating in the state. Since 1933, the Wean Amateur Picnic Races has been one of the historic meeting places of North West New South Wales.
“Make it a day to remember at one of Australia’s last true bush race meets.”
