Nominations for the 2023 Tamworth Regional Sports Awards are now open but are closing soon, with locals urged to get their nominations in before the deadline of October 5.

These annual awards recognise the strong sporting culture and achievements of individuals, teams and organisations across the Tamworth region.

There are multiple awards that individuals are able to nominate for including:

  • Junior Sports Star of the Year Award,
  • Senior Sports Star of the Year Award,
  • Junior Sports Team of the Year Award,
  • Senior Sports Team of the Year Award, 
  • Coach of the Year Award,
  • Sports Development Award,
  • Ken McKenzie Award for services to sport,
  • Cara Hickson Award for special achievements, and
  • the Local Achiever Award.

Plus, if individuals meet the criteria, they can be nominated for the Tamworth Olympic Honour Wall or the Tamworth Regional Sporting Hall of Fame.

Council’s Sport & Recreation Development Officer, Blake Mammarella said the opportunity for people to play and excel in sport is ever-growing.

“These awards are a celebration of the rich sporting culture we are lucky enough to have here in the Tamworth region.”

“With so many high-class sporting facilities, there is great opportunity for the development of sports stars, and a great chance for them to excel.”

“These awards are an excellent opportunity for nominations to be made, to help recognise the achievements of people in our community,” he said.
