Drivers heading between Armidale and the coast on Waterfall Way should allow extra time over the next two weeks, with a string of road maintenance jobs and projects set to cause delays.
Transport for NSW has warned of changed traffic conditions and possible cumulative delays between the New England Highway at Armidale and the Pacific Highway at Raleigh. The work runs from Monday, 26 October, to Sunday, 8 November.
Motorists are advised to plan their journey, allow extra travel time, and follow any signs or directions from traffic controllers.
Some of the work has restrictions for vehicles wider than 3 metres, and a permit is needed to travel the route. Operators can use other routes instead, including the Oxley Highway (check travel conditions), the Gwydir Highway, or the New England Highway.
Between Armidale and Dorrigo, stock underpass culvert extension work is under way near Hernani.
On Dorrigo Mountain, slope repair work and drainage improvements are happening between Sherrard Falls and Maynards Plains Road. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.
Between Thora and Raleigh, three jobs are on the list:
Slope remediation work at Myers Bluff, Thora, with stop/slow conditions and delays of up to 10 minutes.
Slope stabilisation at the Gordonville Cutting landslip, between Horseshoe Road and Boggy Creek Road. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.
A flood resilience road upgrade at Burdett Park, between Nicholson Street and Old Brierfield Road, Fernmount. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.
Transport for NSW said the traffic changes needed to maintain the road network may cause unavoidable delays, and thanked motorists for their patience.
Other roadwork nearby may be on local or regional roads. Those jobs can be viewed on Live Traffic NSW, or through Bellingen Shire Council and Armidale Regional Council.
