Armidale oncology patients and their families are set to benefit from more than $1,600 raised by local car enthusiasts for Armidale Hospital.

Armidale Car Meets raised $1,608.40 through a charity event that brought together car enthusiasts, families and other members of the community to support local cancer care.

The money will be donated to the Oncology Unit at Armidale Hospital, helping support a service relied on by patients and families across the region.

Club members Malcolm Fereday, Rob Watson, Danielle Fereday, Daniel Kempton and Shaun Douglass helped organise and support the fundraiser, alongside Robbie Porter, Andrew Burton, Caitlin McCrae, Amanda McDonnell and Ben Coleman.

The club said the result demonstrated the difference the community could make by supporting a local cause.

“This fundraiser showed just how much can be achieved when our local community comes together for a cause that matters. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the day and helped us raise this money for the Oncology Unit.”

The donation will be officially presented to the Oncology Unit at Armidale Hospital on Friday, October 9.

Armidale Car Meets thanked everyone who attended, donated, supported the club or helped spread the word about the fundraiser.

The club hopes the donation will make a positive difference for patients receiving oncology care and their families while supporting an important local health service.
