Moree is about to get a serious dose of laughs, with one of Australia’s most decorated ventriloquists and a veteran stand-up comedian set to headline a night of entertainment at Moree Memorial Hall next month.
Locals can now grab tickets for the show, featuring ventriloquist Darren Carr and comedian Demo Simis, on Saturday, 12 September, from 6.30pm to 10pm.
Moree Plains Shire Council Manager of Economic Development Brian Kindilien said the night was a chance for locals to enjoy top-shelf entertainment without leaving town.
“Expect an evening filled with plenty of laughter from two highly experienced and respected acts. We encourage residents from across the shire and neighbouring communities to get together with family and friends and enjoy a great night out,” Mr Kindilien said.
“By supporting events like this, residents help demonstrate there is strong demand for quality live entertainment in our region, which in turn helps Council deliver more events like this in the future.”
Carr is widely regarded as Australia’s leading ventriloquist, with a career spanning thousands of performances across corporate events, theatres, international cruise ships and major entertainment venues around the world.
He got his start in a show business family and has since become a multi-award-winning performer, picking up more than two dozen ACE and MO Entertainment Awards and being named Australian Performer of the Year seven times.
Carr was also a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent in 2013, with performances that have racked up millions of views online, and has headlined the International Ventriloquist Convention in the United States on multiple occasions.
He will share the stage with Simis, a seasoned entertainer with more than 35 years of experience performing around the world.
Known for his sharp wit and bold, old-school comedic style, Simis built his reputation on international cruise ships before branching into television and stand-up comedy.
Council is encouraging residents, visitors and people from surrounding communities to enjoy a live comedy show without having to travel to a major city.
Tickets are $20 per person, with the show running at Moree Memorial Hall, 36 Balo Street, Moree, from 6.30pm on Saturday, 12 September.
