Tenterfield prepares to host Australia’s biggest demolition derby weekend

Tenterfield is preparing to welcome competitors and spectators from across Australia and overseas when DerbyMania II – Back 2 the Bush arrives at the Tenterfield Showground from 28 to 30 August.

Held in partnership with the Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA), the three-day event is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the New England town, delivering a major weekend of motorsport and tourism for the local community.

More than 130 competition vehicles have been entered, with Australia’s leading demolition derby drivers joined by international visitors Team USA, who will travel to Tenterfield to compete against the nation’s best.

The program features a full weekend of demolition derby action, including:

  • Powerwheels Kids Derby
  • Minivans & SUV Derby
  • Three-Man Tournament
  • Queen of Crash – Women’s Demolition Derby
  • King of Tenterfield – Locals Only Derby
  • Bumperswap Derby Racing
  • State of Origin Car Soccer
  • Compact Derby
  • Open Derby
  • Team USA vs Australia’s toughest drivers

Competitors will contest a total prize pool of $24,000 across the weekend.

Adult admission is $10, with tickets available at the gate, making the event an accessible attraction for locals and visitors alike.

Organisers say DerbyMania II – Back 2 the Bush will showcase Tenterfield as a destination for major regional motorsport events while providing three days of entertainment for competitors, visitors and local families.
