Inverell will come alive on Sunday 15 March when the town hosts a Multicultural Festival at the Lake Inverell Off-Road Circuit, celebrating community, culture and sport alongside the ProVelo Super League women’s and men’s criterium races featuring some of Australia’s top riders.
The festival begins at 11.30am and will feature a range of international and local food stalls. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the atmosphere while cheering on competitors in one of the region’s best-known cycling events.
Before racing begins, community members are encouraged to take part in the Dash for Cash, to be held ahead of the women’s race. Registrations are open at https://events.humanitix.com/rouseabout-dash-for-cash. The women’s criterium will follow the Dash for Cash at 1.15pm, with the men’s race scheduled later in the day.
Mayor Kate Dight said the festival aims to highlight the cultural diversity of the Inverell region while building excitement around the criterium.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to come together, whether you’re here for the cycling, the food, or simply a great day out. We’re proud to celebrate the many cultures that make Inverell such a welcoming and dynamic place.”
The community is encouraged to visit Campbell Park for the Sapphire City Markets from 7.30am before heading to the Lake Inverell Off-Road Circuit for the festival from 11.30am.
The Multicultural Festival and the criterium are free to attend. Families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and enjoy a day combining sport and culture.
The event follows the 228km Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic on Saturday, when seven local riders will tackle one of Australia’s toughest one-day cycle races.
