Families across the New England region are invited to enjoy a night of free outdoor cinema when Newcastle Permanent’s popular Cinema Under the Stars program returns to Tamworth and Armidale this March.

The events will screen the Oscar-nominated animated film The Wild Robot (PG, 2024), with live entertainment and activities for all ages ahead of the film starting at sundown.

Newcastle Permanent Regional Manager Adam Power said the events were a long-standing way for the customer-owned organisation to give back to regional communities.

“As a customer-owned organisation we are incredibly proud to give back to our communities and see the return of our Cinema Under the Stars events, which have become a staple within our regional NSW communities for more than 15 years,” Mr Power said.

He said attendees could expect a lively atmosphere before the movie begins.

“This year’s events will be action-packed with delicious food, local music, fun and activities before we settle in to enjoy a family-favourite movie.

“The adventures of Roz the robot and her quest to survive and build friendships in The Wild Robot is set to spark your emotions and warm your heart.

“This year’s film is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to come together and recharge their batteries under the stars.”

The Tamworth screening will take place at Bicentennial Park on Friday, 13 March, followed by Armidale’s event at Civic Park on Saturday, 14 March. Live entertainment will begin from 5.30pm, with the film to commence at sundown.

Cinema Under the Stars is a free, alcohol-free event.
