Locals in the Deepwater area are being encouraged to throw their support behind next year’s Black Dog Ride One Dayer, with registrations now open for the 2026 event and a strong local turnout expected.
The annual motorcycle ride, which sparks conversations about depression and suicide prevention across the country, will be held on Sunday 15 March 2026 in more than 50 communities nationwide. Deepwater’s contingent will once again begin their journey at The Top Pub, before heading out on a regional route that will be announced closer to the day.
Black Dog Ride, now in its 17th year, has become a fixture on the national calendar. In 2025, more than 6000 riders took part across Australia, raising over $300,000 to support mental health initiatives. Organisers are hoping to see even more riders and supporters join in next year, particularly in regional towns such as Deepwater where mental health services remain limited.
Deepwater Black Dog Ride Coordinator Stuart O’Neill said the impact of the One Dayer reaches far beyond the ride itself.
“Each year, the Black Dog Ride One Dayer reminds us that meaningful change starts at a local level. We know first-hand that when community members, volunteers, clubs and businesses unite behind a shared cause, the ripple effect can be felt right across the country,” Mr O’Neill said.
“By raising awareness and vital funds that go directly back into regional communities, we’re helping to close the gap where mental health services and free support are still out of reach for so many Australians. It’s about connection, compassion and showing that no one has to face their struggles alone.”
Since its inception in 2009, the Black Dog Ride One Dayer has raised more than $4 million, most of which is returned to regional Australia through the Black Dog Ride Grant Program. Funds have supported hundreds of organisations including Men’s Sheds, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, local schools, mental health charities, and grassroots initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing and reducing suicide risk.
For those unable to join the Deepwater ride, organisers say there are plenty of ways to get involved. Locals can donate, purchase merchandise, organise community fundraisers or simply cheer riders on and attend the celebration dinner.
Registrations remain open until 2pm AEDT on Sunday 15 March 2026.
