Movie lovers have another reason to grab the popcorn, with Cinema 2 at The Crossing Theatre officially reopening today following a major technology upgrade.
The restored cinema now features the same next-generation laser projector and modernised audio system installed in Cinema 1 last year. Audiences can expect sharp, vibrant visuals and immersive sound that elevates every screening, whether you’re into heart-racing action, toe-tapping musicals or a good old-fashioned laugh-cry.
Mayor Darrell Tiemens said bringing Cinema 2 back online is a big win for local entertainment.
“Upgrading Cinema 2 means we can welcome more people through the doors and offer more movie choices each week,” Mayor Tiemens said.
“The Crossing Theatre is a place where our community comes together. Families, mates’ nights, date nights, and these upgrades make the experience even better.”
With both cinemas now running at full capacity, the timing couldn’t be better.
This week’s program offers something for every type of moviegoer:
- Regretting You – for those who love emotional storytelling and a good tearjerker
- The Running Man – for action fans and adrenaline-seekers
- Now You See Me: Now You Don’t – perfect for teens, young adults and anyone who loves a clever twist
- Predator: Badlands – a must-see for sci-fi/action enthusiasts
- Wicked: For Good – ideal for families, musical lovers and anyone looking for feel-good escapism
“These upgrades help ensure The Crossing Theatre continues to be a destination for great entertainment,” Mayor Tiemens said.
“We’re excited to welcome audiences back into Cinema 2 and share the fun.”
