Armidale locals and visitors alike are invited to join in a magical evening filled with festive cheer as Armidale’s Christmas in the Mall takes place again this year. Held in the Beardy Street Mall from 4.30pm – 8.30pm on Thursday 4 December, the evening once again promises to be a wonderful way to celebrate all things Christmas.
This, alongside the Guyra Rotary Christmas Carnival, forms two of the most anticipated events of the season and is a celebration of community spirit, bringing people together to enjoy the magic of Christmas while supporting local businesses, market stalls and performers.
From families and friends to visitors and neighbours, everyone is invited to share in the joy of Christmas.
Armidale Regional Council Mayor Sam Coupland said the events are a reflection of the strong
community connections that define our region.
“Christmas is a time to come together, to celebrate what makes our towns special, and to support
one another,” said Mayor Coupland. “These events are created by and for the community, and
they’re a wonderful way to kick off the festive season with joy, laughter and local pride.”
In Armidale, the evening will feature a visit from Santa Claus at 6pm, a festive train ride aboard the
Jingle Express, a roving magician, live stage performances, and a variety of kids’ activities. Market
and food stalls will offer plenty to eat and explore, and the Armidale Courthouse will be transformed
with an interactive gingerbread-themed lighting display.
In Guyra, the Christmas Carnival will bring the main street to life with a visit from Santa, the Jingle
Express, a live magician, stage entertainment, children’s activities, and a vibrant mix of market and food stalls. The event is proudly delivered in partnership with Guyra Rotary, continuing a long-
standing collaboration that brings the community together each year.
“These celebrations are about more than just lights and entertainment,” Mayor Coupland added.
“They’re about connection, tradition, and creating memories that last well beyond the holiday
season. I encourage everyone to come along, bring your family and friends, and enjoy everything our
community has to offer.”
The Christmas tree lighting at Christmas in the Mall will take place at 7:30pm, while the Guyra
Christmas Carnival will begin at 6:30pm.
