Virtual Health Pod launches in Tenterfield

A first-of-its-kind in NSW telehealth pod is now operational in Tenterfield, providing bulk-billed psychology appointments to local residents, without the need to travel.

Located outside EP Health Centre at 11 Riley Street, Tenterfield and funded through the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network’s (HNECC PHN) Small Town Engagement Model (STEM) grants, the Tenterfield Virtual Care Pod aims to improve access to mental health services for people in and around the region.

The pod offers:

  • Private, secure video consultations with registered psychologists via HealthBright
  • Bulk-billed appointments, usually available within 24-48 hours
  • Access for individuals aged 14+ (ages 14–15 with parent/guardian consent)
  • One-off or repeat sessions

Patients need a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) to access psychology appointments.

This pilot initiative will be evaluated to assess its potential for broader rollout across rural and remote communities in the PHN footprint.
