SBM25: Built with Intention

October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region.

Today we’re celebrating the creators who put soul into every detail – from handcrafted homes built for belonging, to gowns chosen with heart, and collections that tell the story of local artistry and community spirit.

Tenterfield Treasure

Celebrating local art, creativity and community

13 Crown Street, Tenterfield

A true gem in the heart of town, Tenterfield Treasure brings together local arts, crafts, and second-hand finds under one welcoming roof. The store offers an ever-changing mix of handmade creations, pre-loved clothes, shoes, books and homewares – alongside a vibrant workshop space where crafters can meet, share ideas and create together.

Owned and operated by Nanette Watts, a proud Tenterfield local, the business has quickly become a community hub since opening its craft gallery in late 2024. With 27 local makers now supplying their work, visitors can browse everything from handwoven textiles and paintings to one-of-a-kind gifts – all made with care and creativity.

And for something truly unique, don’t miss the in-store museum, opened in early 2025, which features more than 40 collections including over 400 teapots on display. Tenterfield Treasure is more than just a shop – it’s a celebration of local talent, history and connection for both residents and visitors alike.

HOVAN Tiny Houses

Redefining what it means to feel at home

Kings Plains Rd. Inverell

Born from nearly two decades in building design, HOVAN Tiny Houses represents a new vision for modern, flexible living. Founded by Andy P., HOVAN reimagines the concept of the tiny home – blending the comfort and functionality of a real house with the convenience and mobility of a caravan. The result is a genuine home that’s elegant, practical and made for living, not just for show.

More than a business, HOVAN is driven by heart. Inspired by the desire to create spaces that offer dignity, independence and long-term comfort, Andy’s mission is to make housing more accessible, sustainable and human-centred. Each HOVAN design is crafted to meet the realities of everyday life – no cramped lofts or makeshift kitchens, just thoughtful design that feels good to live in.

Behind every build is a philosophy of care – for people, families and community. HOVAN aims to provide meaningful employment, design excellence and homes that genuinely improve lives. With its name derived from HOme + caraVAN, HOVAN Tiny Houses stands as a reminder that the best homes aren’t defined by size, but by the love and purpose they’re built with.
