It’s a big weekend of festival action around the New England, and with that comes some road closures.
Sapphire City Festival – Inverell
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions this weekend on the Gwydir Highway at Inverell for the Sapphire City Festival Fireworks.
The Gwydir Highway and Inverell Bridge will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from 8pm to 10pm on Saturday 25 October between Campbell Street and Brae Street.
Light vehicles can detour via Bundarra Road, Medora Street, Cameron Street, Macintyre Street and Old Bundara Road to rejoin the Gwydir Highway.
Heavy, oversize and or/overmass vehicles can detour via Runnymeade Drive, Swanbrook Road, Byron Street, Ring Street and Jardine Road.
There will be increased pedestrian activity as people make their way to and from the event and motorists are reminded to exercise caution.

Thunderbolt Festival – Uralla
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions this weekend on the New England Highway at Uralla with road closures in place for the Thunderbolts Festival.
The festival will be held on Saturday 25 October from 10am to 4pm in Alma Park on Queen Street at Uralla.
The New England Highway will be closed from 10.30am to 11.30am between John and King streets for the Fleet Warbirds Parade, with traffic detoured via John, Maitland and King streets.
Any restricted access heavy vehicles travelling southbound on Thunderbolts Way will be stopped at Rocky River Road during the road closure.
Northbound heavy vehicles will be parked on the New England Highway (Bridge Street) between John and Park streets and southbound between King and Hill streets until the road is reopened.
