On Friday, 28 November 2025, local businesses, golfers and community members will tee off for a cause close to home, the Lifeline Tamworth Golf Day, held at the scenic Longyard Golf Course.
This year’s event is an Ambrose tournament designed to bring people together while raising vital funds for Lifeline New England North West’s crisis support services. Registration includes 18 holes of golf, breakfast and lunch, with teams of four entering for $440 (without carts).
Joshua Schultz, Community Engagement Manager for Lifeline, tells us that they’re hoping for a bumper 3rd year for this event.
“Numbers have been growing steadily over the last two years but after this year’s hugely successful Gala Ball, we’re expecting it to be even bigger,” he said.
“Our absolute dream would be 25-30 teams.”
The Golf Day promises more than just friendly competition. Organisers have lined up special features to keep spirits high and participation meaningful:
- A $20,000 “hole in one” prize for one lucky shot
- Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams
- Nearest-the-pin and longest drive contests
- Raffles and other side draws which are still being finalised
“The $20,000 hole-in-one prize will be a separate entry fee of $39. To put that into perspective, $39 is the cost of each call to Lifeline,” said Mr Schultz.
For businesses wanting to partner more closely, hole sponsorships are available, which include a team of four (with or without carts), signage, and promotional opportunities in player packs.
All funds raised from the day will stay local, supporting Lifeline services across the region — including 24/7 crisis support by phone (13 11 14), chat and text lines, and in-person community training programs.
Community interest is already growing as teams sign up, and sponsors engage in promotional efforts and Mr Schultz emphasises that you don’t have to be a top golfer to make a difference.
“Obviously, the fundraising element is a big part of the day, but it’s also about just getting awareness of what we do at Lifeline out there,” said Mr Schultz.
“You don’t have to be suicidal to call us, in fact we’d really love for people to call us long before they get to that point – we’re here for everyone – whether you’re feeling lonely, depressed, isolated or even if you’ve just had a really bad day – call us.”
You can register or find more information via the Lifeline New England North West website. Early registration is encouraged to secure spots and sponsorships before they are snapped up.
In small towns and regional areas, the support network is often the backbone of community wellbeing. Events like Lifeline’s Golf Day fuse enjoyment with impact, reminding residents that even a friendly day on the fairways can contribute to something much bigger.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a local wanting to show support, the 2025 Lifeline Tamworth Golf Day is shaping up to be a highlight on the calendar — and a force for positive change across New England and the North West.
